Seminar Program Listing

Mark has presented his highly acclaimed photography programs at seven (7) different midwestern US weekend and day long seminars: including the CAPS School, "In Focus", The Photographic Guild, SWMCCC, TCACCC, the Quad Cities Extravaganza, and Wright Round Up. Mark has also presented for the Photographic Society of America (PSA), as well as at more than twenty (20) camera clubs throughout Illinois. LightChase Photography also presents full day to weekend long seminars.


"Landscape Composition" instructs the photographer in landscape compositional techniques, with a primary emphasis on compositions that incorporate dramatic lighting into one's images. The presentation includes the five (5) major compositional types, all illustrated with dramatic imagery, as well as compositional guidelines, and in-the-field tips that are very useful to keep in mind while photographing in the great outdoors. The most difficult composition situations are also addressed, as well as composition ideas and techniques for use under "Magical Natural Light" conditions.

"Exposing for the Magic" is a practical instructional program that teaches a methodology for making exposure decisions when photographing "Magical Natural Light". Metering pattern selections are directly compared using "before-and-after" images. The use of "Choice Elements" as Cue Cards, along with spot metering and compensation, is investigated. Award-winning images and techniques
described illustrate the methodology. Metering under "Magical Natural Light" conditions completes the instruction.

"Magic Friendly Filtration" presents practical advice and techniques in the use of filtration to photographers, which will allow them to create dramatic, magical, yet natural appearing images using natural light. A complete filtration system will be detailed. Advanced usage of graduated neutral density (GND) filters, circular polarizing filters, and light warming filters shall all be discussed in depth. "Magical Natural Light" conditions where each of these types of filters are useful will be illustrated.

"Wonderful World of Water" has been created to inspire, motivate, and instruct the photographer in methods of appreciating and understanding our world, with regards to light, water, and the magical interactions between the two. Techniques, methods, images and ideas are presented to illustrate ways of incorporating the "residents" in the Wonderful World of Water into our photographic pursuits.

"Storm Light Photography Guide" has been created to empower the photographer with an effective approach to understanding and photographing storm light of various types: rainbows, thunderstorms, lightning, and the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) are included!

"Wild & Wonderful Weather" has been created to empower the photographer with the secrets of weather and light interactions that affect our photographic opportunities. The presentation shares how to predict light from the weather by understanding the relationship between light and weather, and even beyond, to begin to predict the weather from the light. Demonstrations include how to maximize your photographic opportunities by choosing your shoot location based upon what time of day you expect the best light to be. Real-life examples and illustrations using actual weather maps are included as instructional tools.

Graduated Neutral Density (GND) Filters remain, even in the digital age of photography, one of the most important tools that a photographer has at their disposal in their search for creating spectacular images incorporating "Magical Natural Light" into their photography. This presentation will educate the participant about what GND filters accomplish, demonstrate the techniques for using GND filters while photographing using digital or film as your chosen medium, and discuss which GND filters to purchase and from what sources.

"Photography Tour Discussion" has been created to empower the photographer with an effective method of choosing the best photography tour to expand their photographic knowledge and expertise. The approach taken is to provide the photographer with an understanding of the types of photography tours that are available, how to know which type is best for you, and how to interview and/or determine the best factors that will tell if a tour company will provide you with the best experience and tour. How LightChase Photography approaches photography tours is then explained, and why LCP chooses to operate the tours in this way.

"Oregon Coast Odyssey" is an entertaining and inspirational image show from the Oregon Coast set to motivational music. Locations that the images were created at are included, so you’ll know where to go to create some of your very favorite images when you have your opportunity to experience and photograph the Oregon Coast.

"Aurora Borealis” & “Wonderful World of Whales” is two individual image & music shows together for the first time in a combination CD! Both shows are dramatic images of Nature’s Greatest Light Show and Nature’s Greatest Sea-faring Creatures set to motivational music. The fantastic imagery also educates the viewer with real-life observations of the Northern Lights and Humpback Whales, which opens a new window onto our world – both in the skies as well as underwater!

"Polar Bear Express" invites the viewer into the icy realm of the "Great White Bear" to discover the warmth of the highly sociable polar bear. The largest land carnivore of modern times is actually quite the affectionate parent and companion to its own kind. The images, experiences, and personality of the polar bears and the wild adventure of getting to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada are shared through the images, stories, and music of this inspirational show. Learn about the adventure of experiencing this vanishing marvel in their own world, where we are only visitors - visitors who find a true once-in-a-lifetime adventure never to be forgotten!
